Welcome to my blog dear reader, may your stay be a pleasant one!
It seems kind of peculiar that I would write my blog in English, my native tongue and that of most of my friends being Dutch and not to mention my presence in the Frenchest nation of France where they stubbornly speak French. But for those close to my heart for whom the Dutch language seems a blur, here goes.
Today I still have two weeks before I hop on the train to beautiful Besancon (region Franche-Compte). Although I'm trying to convince myself that all there is to do to prepare my stay and voyage has been done, I somehow find myself unconvinced. But I believe this strange sensation is also commonly referred to as 'the jitters' or something to that extent. Note to self: get rid of jitters; they cloud the mind.
Let me tell you about my activities in Besancon. As the little text to your right unvails, I'm doing an Erasmus exchange for one semester starting upcoming September. The primary goal of this abroad period is to enhance my knowledge of French. I'll be doing some courses in French Law at the university. Next to that I'll be filling the position of TA in Dutch studies where I'll be assisting a teacher with her Dutch teachings. Finally, since I'm studying to become a sworn translator, I plan on doing some translation work which is still to be distributed.
My first day starts the day after my arrival in two weeks. I've decided to do an intensive language course which takes a week. The following Tuesday I'll attend a general Erasmus day where I'll be informed about everything there's is to know. I've also been contacted by the Erasmus student association of Besancon; they'll appoint someone to show me around. The association is also a nice way of getting to know new people!
Anyway, good readers; For now, I'm leaving this blog for what it is and you'll be reading about my adventures soon!
Cheers.
